A trip to Western ghats in Karnataka Murdeshwar We have been discussing for a trip to western ghats since ages and finally we made it only in the month of Dec'18. As we have known and seen this beautiful Murdeshwar shiva statue in many movies which is located very close to the sea, decided to visit this temple. Murdeshwar, famous for the world's second tallest Shiva statue, is a town in Bhatkul taluk of Uttar Kannada district in the state of Karnataka. Murdeshwar is another name of the Hindu god Shiva. The origin of the name "Murdeshwar" dates to the time of the epic Ramayana Our journey starts: Most of us rely on google for everything, i am also not an exceptional:) so asusual checked for the best route to go to Murdeshwar from Bangalore and it suggested two routes 1.via Shimoga and another one via Davanagere to Murdeshwar. We decided to go with Davanagere as we read in many articles/blogs that the Shimoga road is not so good. Since the distance is about 5

Thiruchendur

Lord Murugan temple Thiruchendur is considered as one of the Arupadaiveedu (six abodes) of Lord Murugan. It is situated in Tuticorin district, Tamil Nadu. It is 60kms from Tirunelveli. Puranas tells that Lord Murugan killed Surabadman, a demon in this place. Skanda Sashti is celebrated in remembrance of this. For Skanda sashti there are hundreds of thousands of people comes here. Another important place around Tirunelveli is the Navathirupathi vishnu temples. It is one among 108 Divya Desam. Unfortunately we could not make it to Navathirupathi due to time constraints. Lets see our journey: As this Murugan temple has significant importance we decided to visit this temple even though most of us had been already. To go there, there is a train available from Chennai <-> Thirunchendur which is a direct train. But actually we did not go by that train. We went in Ananthapuri Express ( the train running from Chennai, Egmore to Trivandrum) and got down in Tirunelveli around 7:10 AM.

In the streets of Pondicherry

Streets in Pondicherry remembers us to think it was greatly influenced by French. The town is divided into two sections French quarter where you can see streets in the design based on Dutch grid pattern, also they still retain the street names in French. On the other hand houses in Indian quarter are typical Indian style with verandas and large doors. We really enjoyed walking along the road, admired by the architectural beauty of these houses. Also the rebuilt house should resemble the same architecture it possessed before demolition.
