Kollur

Sri Mookambika temple

We stayed overnight in Murdeshwar and continued our trip to Kollur the next day early morning. Kollur is a small town in Udupi district which lies at the foot of western ghats famous for the Mookambika temple which is about  The goddess Durga is called Mookambika who is in the form of Jyotirlinga incorporating both Shiva and Shakthi. It took around 2hrs(60kms) for us to reach kolllur because we stopped for a while to fuel our energy. Here is the place we recharged our energy. I think this is at Bhatkal. Poor memory need to double check with my guys:)

We are the first customers for them on that day :) We stopped there to have only tea and ordered only tea. But when the waiter said breakfast is ready, we just thought ok why don't we just try their food and asked for Mangalore buns, the waiter got confused then we realized that we are in uttara kannada here they simply call buns. It makes sense too :) so we ordered buns

To our surprise the taste was too good so how can we leave the hotel with just buns and tea we decided to finish our breakfast there. Ordered pulao and idli. Infact all the items were good. We felt very much energized and again our journey continued do Kollur
Few more clicks, nearing Kollur village, this beautiful field lies at the foot of the western ghats gave us a warm welcome. I wish we could have spent more time on this field but could not due to our tight schedule, so just clicked few photos and rushed to kollur temple
Finally entering Kollur. I was little excited and feeling blessed as i heard that this temple goddess is very powerful. Thank god for giving this opportunity to visit this temple

Though we know that temple elephant won't harm us still I was little scared to take the blessing but managed to get it. Good my friend took this photo from my back otherwise he might have seen my face in tension :)
Many people from Kerala and Tamil Nadu visit
this temple. It was sunday so the temple was little crowded but still we managed to finish dharshan in 1hr. The temple architecture is similar to temples in keralaa. Came out of the temple after finishing the dharshan and found that there are some restaurants serving the traditional kerala food strings and Puttu. After seeing this how can we go without having the traditional kerala breakfast puttu and kadala curry. Had our second breakfast in Kollur
